The Schwarzhorn is a summit not much higher compared to the surrounding glacier, but it offers a wonderful view on the Valsesia and on the Lys Glacier. This top was reached for the first time on 18th August 1873 by Marco Maglioli and Albert Rotschild, with the guides Eduard Cupelin, Peter Knubel, Nicolaus Knubel and three carriers.

Itinerary
You will reach the Mantova hut from Indren point and you will spend there the night. The next morning, you climb up the glacier up to the Gnifetti hut. You go around it on the right on not steep slopes and you reach a flat area with some crevasse. You continue across the whole plateau and you will see on the right the Pyramid Vincent. After that you will see the Balmenhorn and the statue of the Christ (an important point of reference). In case of bad weather or need on the Balmenhorn you will find the bivouac Giordano. You will continue on the right towards the Schwarzhorn following the track that leads directly on the west face. With the help of the pick you start the ascent on a snowy and steep face, than you will reach the top ridge and on the left you can find the Schwarzhorn top. To go down you follow the same way of ascent till the Manotva Hut where you stop for a pleasant meal.
